Grants to Tennessee nonprofit organizations and health systems to increase access to cancer detection services for women. The purpose of the program is to address health disparities for at-risk populations by reducing barriers to care. Funds may be used for purposes such as transportation, childcare, translation services, and insurance, to promote access to breast and cervical cancer screening and diagnostics.

One of the efforts of the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (NBCCEDP) is to identify and decrease client barriers to receiving needed breast and cervical cancer screening and diagnostics while prioritizing populations that are disproportionately burdened by these diseases. As an NBCCEDP affiliate, Tennessee Breast and Cervical Screening Program (TBCSP) aims to improve health equity through reducing barriers. Examples of barriers include lack of transportation, lack of child or adult care, co-pay assistance, translation services, or additional access to resources in underserved areas.

TBCSP is seeking health systems and/or small community organizations that provide services to reduce these barriers to receiving breast and/or cervical services in high-risk areas. Health systems may include Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), Community Health Centers (CHCs), health care or hospital networks, and local health department clinics that are characterized as multi-site clinics.

Selected grantees may implement any of the following activities:

  • Transportation
  • Cost of Care/Co-Pay Assistance
  • Lack of Insurance
  • Extended/Flexible Operating Hours
  • Child/Adult Care
  • Language and Cultural Barriers
  • Additional Access to Breast/Cervical Cancer Screening/Diagnostic Resources
